About the Program
Caldwell County provides indigent health care services under the Texas Indigent Health Care and Treatment Act (Health & Safety Code Chapter 61). The program provides basic health care services to county residents who meet eligibility requirements.
Services are coordinated through Seton Edgar B. Davis Hospital in Luling, Texas.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for indigent health care, applicants generally must:
- Be a Caldwell County resident
- Have household income at or below 21% of the federal poverty level
- Not be eligible for Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, or other government health programs
- Not have health insurance coverage
Covered Services
Basic health care services covered may include primary care visits, emergency care, prescription drugs (formulary), laboratory services, and preventive care. Coverage is limited and subject to available county funding.
