Caldwell County Elections relies on dedicated community volunteers to staff polling locations on Election Day and during early voting. Serving as a election worker is a meaningful way to support democracy in your community.
Eligibility Requirements
- Registered to vote in Caldwell County
- U.S. citizen, 18+ years of age
- Not currently holding elected office or working for an elected official
- Not a candidate in the current election
- Enjoy working with the public and community involvement
- Able to work a full election day shift
Compensation
- Election Day workers: paid hourly
- Presiding Judges paid at a higher rate
- Mandatory training session (paid)
- Contact the Elections Office for current rates
Training & Certification
- Election Worker 1 — minimum certification required to work elections
- Election Worker 2 — required if appointed to a term position
- Required training before each election
- Set up and manage voting equipment; verify voter eligibility and photo ID; assist voters

Complete the Worker Information Sheet and return it to the Elections Office using any of the methods below.

Work Hours
Election Day
Polls open 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Workers arrive by 6:00 a.m. and stay until equipment is packed and results are delivered.
Early Voting
Hours vary by election. Contact the Elections Office for the schedule for an upcoming election.
Texas Election Schedule
- General Elections: First Tuesday after the first Monday in November
- Primary Elections: First Tuesday in March (even-numbered years)
- Uniform Elections: First Saturday in May
- Early Voting: Up to 17 days before election through 4 days before Election Day
